Meetings in June: Social afternoon and Boules Muratti

Our next meetings in June take on a more outdoor setting to take advantage of the Great British Summer. We will be meeting in Cleaver Square twice during the month.

Saturday, 1 June 2013 at 12:00

The first meeting is on the first Saturday of the month, where we plan to meet for a social afternoon where we will have lunch at the nearby pub, and have a few games of boules to practise for the main event.

Saturday, 22 June at 12:00

Our annual Boules Muratti competition against the Jersey Society is now in its third year. Having won for the first two years, we have a reputation to maintain! Further details can be found on the Boules Muratti flyer. We look forward to seeing you there to either join in, or cheer us on!

Venue: Cleaver Square (nearest tube Kennington) is one of London’s finest Georgian Squares. An added attraction is its pub, The Prince of Wales, which sells Shepherd Neame beers from Faversham, Kent.

WWI RGLI Battlefield Tour – September 2013

In the first week of September, we are planning a trip to France and Belgium for a guided tour of the battlefields on which the brave men of the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry fought during World War I.

We will visit the major sites on which they fought – including Cambrai and Le Doulieu – as well as paying our respects to those who died at the memorials and cemeteries. The tour will be led by an experienced WWI Battlefield Tour guide to help bring to life the experience of those involved.

As it will be a tailor-made tour, we have the opportunity to include sites of specific interest to the tour participants.

Numbers are limited but we do have a small number of places still available.

Further details of the tour can be found in the attached WWI RGLI Battlefield Tour flyer.

Boules Muratti 2011

Boules Muratti 2011 - last year's winning team

We will be holding our second annual Boules Muratti against the Jersey Society in Cleaver Square on 21 June 2012.

The fun will start at 6:30pm until about 9pm, followed by a curry to celebrate or commiserate.
